I honestly for one cannot believe the T1s are worse than the 1350. That just seems crazy. Comfort factor alone would be a ton better. Perhaps in the high end or low end?

If you're referring to my comment, I don't mean the 1350s are better overall. I just consider them better at their price point than the T1s are at theirs.

No not your comment cannot remember who but I have heard it before. Seems like there are a lot of questionable opinions about the T1s and for my money most of them seem to come from the Senn crowd.

Yeah, I can definitely see the per dollar statement. Those T1s are spendy for what amounts to maybe a couple improvements here and there. Really, I think the money goes towards the soundstage and that would be worth it if I had the cash for sure.

Hi,

I found that the DT1350has more bass than the DT990. The DT880 sounds thin in comparison. I favor the DT1350 to the DT880 as well. It's a great headphone.

I've finally received my DT1350 which I ordered from B&H.

They have not been burned in yet but I can now "hear" for myself and understand why some actually prefer the DT1350 over the DT880.
Just fresh out of the box and listening to some familiar tunes via my CSP2+ tube amp, the DT1350 is much clearer than my DT880 (600 Ohms). It is as though the proverbial sonic veil had been lifted.

However, at the present moment, the bass impact and tonal weight of the DT1350 still lags behind the DT880. Since these are my initial impressions from listening straight out of the box, with more burn-in, I'm pretty sure that the DT1350 could actually surpass (GASP!) my DT880.

If the DT1350 really outshines my DT880, I might be convinced to fork out some more $$$ for the T1. I'm convinced now that the Tesla technology is really a significant step up from the older dynamic headphone technology.

Thanks because IMO experience owning both, it is crazy.

I see some people don't understand how sensitive DT1350 are. The answer is: very, much more than the 80 Ohm impedance suggests.
They get pretty loud - only 10% quieter than GR07. As the impedance is flat, too high impedance source doesn't hurt them too much.
Heck, I've driven them off a cellphone and they were plenty loud.

In my experience, amping them brings some bass quality improvements, it gets tighter and slightly better extended down.

The most intriguing thing about them is the funny long bass decay - sounds kind of like reverb. I suspect that's how they get most of their bass weight.

They get pretty loud anyway and as the impedance is flat, too high impedance source doesn't hurt them too much.

The impedance doesn't really say how "efficient" headphones are...more with regards to damping factor. The better number is the sensitivity and for the DT1350s, it comes in at a very efficient 109dB.

The 80 ohms output impedance is actually better than 32 ohms for playing straight out of an iPod (as they typically have higher output impedances).

Tyll has a brilliant explanation here:

I do like the Bass decay like you. I was surprise that someone mentioned that they didn't like the bass because of the lack off it. Listening to Porcupine Tree Voyage 34 - phase 1 an early in the song the Bass is just amazing

i have just had my first couple of hours with the dt1350. Playing from laptop and walkman z into an ibasso d12 and p4. I like them very much. The low end is just what i crave, its deep, booming, extended, rounded but with no overdone punch that has you in fear of your life each time your half expecting a punch moment. It has a sweet sound to my ears and the only thing im missing is a little more high end, im kinda looking for the treble button but alas dont have one. For a quick comparison with the same equipment i have tried some klipsch x10i's and a pair of ath es-10, and dont laugh but also some bose 15's.

compared to dt1350
klipsch x10i > much brighter, bordering on the harsh in the high end > less extended bass > less body all round
es-10 > more body > much more forward (too much for me) > bass has bigger impact but not in a pleasant way > i feel like im in a fight > works better unamped with the walkman > lacks the enjoyment factor i have with the 1350
bose 15 > no body > brighter high end > bass doesnt extend anywhere close to the 1350

if the highs open up a bit more on the 1350 with burn in then im a happy bunny!

I also own the Klipsch x10 but my experience its the opposite of you. I find the x10 the be lacking extension and sparkle on the treble region. I like them but mostly for their great bass.

My DT1350 as very good high. Mine are from early production. Not the latest model.

The improper placement of the pads to the ears might have caused it. I've said it like a million times but I don't get tired saying it as it is very true and people being disappointed by 1350's sound must consider that, it's not that easy to find the sweet spot the first time. Once you found it, you'll definitely appreciate its sound especially the bass. The break-in of the pads to the ears is a factor too. Mine too are from early batches :D Though I wonder how it differs from the new ones. I'm actually thinking of buying a 2nd pair, but of course it's not so practical.

I may have been the one who said that in the beginning. These are warming up to me and I definitely appreciate their decay. However I have found that other cans have a slightly more natural decay to my ears. For example my modded T50RPs, M-80s, D1000, and HJE900. I wouldn't call the decay bad on the DT1350 though and I'm getting more impressed each day.

I notice that a lot of you guys with more experience than I have with portables seem to really warm up to them after some time has passed. That's very interesting to me. I read someone in another thread (I cant keep track of everyone here, obviously) who was luke warm to the 1350s out of the box, but now, after having them for a few weeks, is probably as smitten with them as I am, maybe even more.

I pretty much liked them from the start, but they did seem to grow on me with time... then they became addicting.
