Hi all,

Been here for years, maybe had a different account just never contributed much. Wanted a little help with some DT880 Pro's that took a short fall.

After the fall the right ear driver stopped working (Understandable) but now the left has too.

Anyway i took them apart and checked with a multi meter and it all checks out.

Uploaded some photos just incase anyone spots anything out of the ordinary, is it possible to test the drivers?

Thanks

Nathan

If the cable and drivers both make a circuit, the last thing I can think of is the the voice coil becoming unseated, but that's almost an impossibility without some significant force or airflow into the rear of the driver.
This sounds a bit weird, to be honest.

Im quite confused myself as the left driver was working fine but since i tried the right driver with the left drivers cables it also wont work also now.

The metal pin tabs only go so far down so it's impossible for them to not make contact with the driver terminals. Anyway i'll get a new cable and resolder for the peace of mind.

Look between the terminals and the driver back (best I can describe it, the flat part) for 2 hair-thin wires (they're seriously thin).

If one or both of those wires are separated then there is no signal going from the cord to the voice coil.

I've damaged mine (on my 770s) really easily. It's definitely possible. Fixing it is really tricky, but also possible.

You can sort of see them here:

The arrows are pointing to the right place. They will be similar on the right driver (this image is for the left).
