I have the ESW10's and have had them for a long time. I have a number of other phones as well. I find it odd that harshness is being heard with them, unless the music is harsh. I recently had them recabled with TWag v3 OM I think so much of them. Single ended or balanced (they are balanced and can be used single ended with my adapter), they sing. On well recorded live music they are true to the sound and very pure. IMO

edit: at first I was not impressed with the ESW10's and didn't even use them very much. Then I used them to burn in amps and so on. They got many hours on them and the sound changed. They opened up, became very smooth but not lifeless. They are one of my favorite phones and most likely, the last I would ever get rid of. Very hard to find now. I did just order a new set of ear pads, lamb, to make sure I have some for the future. There are many fake ESW10's out there.

Interesting, I thought that was just an issue with the ESW9.

I wasn't super impressed with the ESW11 at first listen, but when I came back to them the next day I liked them much better. I think that first day all of the expectations complicated things, as a Sony PH1 arrived at the same time. When I came back and listened less critically I found that the ESW11 hit all the right notes for me, and I am quite pleased with their sound. I still don't like supra-aurals but these are keepers.

This is exciting, I found a few more photos.

A little off topic, but what are the headphones on the left?  Just looking for a little perspective.  Thanks.

It looks like the ATH-ES700, but I'm far from sure...

I would say that it sounds a lot like a D7000, pretty much the opposite of a W5000. When I briefly heard the W1000 it was somewhere in between.

How does ATH-ESW11LTD compare to the W1000, W3000 or W5000?

ESW11LTD will be the darkest sounding compare to them, and also has the least spacious soundstage (due the small housing). Keep in mind that the 11 still has really good clarity and doesn't sound muffled at all.

Also dare I say that the 11 is the most allrounder from the group.

T5P beat them all?

W1000 I haven't heard, but I own W1000X, and I've heard W3000ANV, W5000, and ESW11LTD.

As said, ESW11LTD is very dark compared to those 3. Treble is obviously rolled off with ESW11LTD to my ears.

But as said, ESW11LTD doesn't sound muddy. That's because the 53mm used is very efficient and fast, and it still allows ESW11LTD to handle complex sound passages quite well.

If you want more treble and clarity, ES10 is the better choice.

When i think of the ES10 i just think of having to adapt to that huge amount of bass.  I don't know if it burned in and toned down or i got used to it.  It matches really well with analytical players though due to that.  I would think the 11's would have more balance.
