Audio-Technica is comming out with a new improved high end plug
headphone called the ATH-CK7. It has a titanium housing and doesn't
have the "Loop Support" appendage that the ATH-CK5 had. It
is scheduled to go on sale in Japan November 25. Can be seen on some
Japanese sites.

The diagram seems to indicate a Y cord, not the usual neck cord.
Don't know if it has the usual problem of the weight of a connector
tugging on the left plug.

A-T is really going into high-gear recently, isn't it?

the model on that page has very sticky-outy ears, it appears. canalphones don't feel weird once you are used to them and the particular type that AT makes is pretty unobtrusive compared to, say, Etymotics.

they are designed to be worn with the cables over the ear like shure? that does look strange with the cable pointing foward, instead of upwards like the shures.

Which means ~$129 imported from AC, Bluetin, etc. I'll wait for <$100 on Ebay and to see if they are even worth that much cash. AT is overpriced with their titanium stuff.

I agree it looks stupid the way they are being worn in the picture. The cord should be going straight up and over the back of the ear.

Maybe there will be a CK9 with dual drivers! We'll just have to wait and see. These are for sure an improvement over the CK5. No one liked the loop support.

Just had a look on bluetin, which right now has a $83 quote. Since they won't be available before December, they may change the price before then.

They're in the same ballpark, price wise, so I too would really like to know how they sound. Much to my surprise, I recently won a Qoolqee K7. Qoolqee is a popular brand in Asia, with a growing presense in Europe but none yet in the States; this mp3 player is their top of the line, built around one of those new 24 bits DAC processors. It'd be ridiculous to pair it with headphones that would make it sound no better than an iPod. So I've not even tried it yet. *sigh* I need headphones. Good headphones. And being presently jobless (I've only recently graduated), I can't afford to make a poor choice, because I won't be able to make another one after that. Which is how I've landed on those boards, as it stands. I'd never owned an mp3 player before. I feel like a guy who won a sports car yet doesn't have his driving licence.

Is that the actual quote or the price listed on the site. When I get a price quote emailed from them it is $27 dollars added to their list price. So that would make them $110 shipped. A bit much IMO,unless they are spectacular sounding.

It pays to wait though. Some AT EC7's are going on ebay for around $30 which is $100 less than they are going for elsewhere. I got the CK5's for $28 shipped off ebay which is less than half the importers prices.

The reason why those ATH-EC7's are selling on eBay for only ~ $30 is because they are knock-offs! They are not authentic, notice the steep matching $30 shipping fees and that they do not come in the retail packaging. When in doubt, ask to see actual real photos of the item over the readily available stock pics you see.

Even if that was a bad example the point still applies. Wait instead of paying importers profits for something that is really worth less than what they charge. I don't begrudge the AC's or bluetin's or warehouse123's for making their profit. It's just wise spending to wait and pay more in line with what the products are really worth and skip the "middle man". BTW, my CK-5's were not knock-offs yet I did not overpay to import.

Another example: the Kenwood DAP is $439@ Audiocubes and $299@ warehouse123. Why pay $439?
