I had promised here what I would think of the Master-1 Vacuum XLR if it came in.

Coming from the standard Master-1 preamp from Audio-GD that is really nice and actually does nothing wrong, the Vacuum XLR makes clearly more music, which translates into a nicer high with a fatter middle area and a more magical space image, characteristics where a tube is very strong, the low is a bit creamier but still tight, especially in combination with the NCore power amplification on the active speakers a very nice high-quality musical combo.
🎼🎼🎼

Btw, The Vacuum will need another 200 to 300 hours to develop to its full glory, I am verry curious where this will end !!

I completely forget to thank Magna Hifi, thanks Jos & Rob for the great service, again :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Guys what do you thing about best connection between R7 dac and preamp?
Should it be good neutral xlr pair under 2500Euro ?
Or ACSS is the only way for the best? I dont know anything about good acss cables(

Hi,
If You have an Audio-gd preamp. ACSS is best. Audio-gd's own cables are ok but there is alot to win with building Your own. I am using a braided (8 strains) silver cable for both ACSS and XLR cables in my rig. You can get good recommendations here by people notorious building cables. You don't need to put crazy money on cables.

ACSS cables from Magna Hifi, MWay. They are excellent!
Could they compete with some good XLR at 2500-3000Euro cathegory ?

What are the best ACSS cables ?
I can google only audio gd acss and magna

And I also told you personally that these are very good cables. :relaxed:

I mean, of course, the M-WAY NTRL model

I cant accept that 300euro acss cables could be better than 3000euro xlr)
I am sure there must be something better than magna, may be something made of silver

No one I know uses $3000 cables. I can’t accept $3000 cables sound $2.7K better than $300 wires. Many users of ACSS make their own wires. Silver litz for $100/ pr.

You will be surprised. This is a different type of interface, not just a connector. In a case of a DAC it can be even a bigger deal. As Kingwa always chose a shortest signal path, so I expect that I/V conversion takes place not at the DAC, but the pre-amp (the other end of cable). Can you believe it? It is possible with ACSS. :)

The best XLR I used was the Inakustik NF-2404 Air, it costs about US$2300, it is completely beaten by even the stock ACSS in terms of transparency, speed and soundstage. As I said before, the Audio-GD products are probably only average when you use the standard connections i.e. XLR. But they are undisputed when you use ACSS.

A headphone cable supplier called Lunashops has gold plated silver cable, but it may be too thin for large equipment.

acturally I am thinking about costomizing because lots of chinese goods can be costomized if anyone groups the orders to over $500.

around $700-$1000 for 1kg silver litz cable https://m.alibaba.com/product/1888745846/silver-litz-wire.html

Imho it is not the cable in first place, you might save the single polarity FET stage in the M1 (The old and new M1 should sound exactly the same with an ACSS connected DAC). The current technology is the reason, that the cable impact might be not as prominent as in an RCA/ XLE signal path. But for me, there are better preamps, to spend 2700€ on top oft an M1...and i think cable matters.
