Do you think the graph will change after burn in? Harry Potter-style? Impressive Audez'e

Received a demo pair, would any of the LCD 3 experts on the thread care to comment on my plot. These are a brand new pair of cans and not yet burnt in.

Thanks in advance.

Looks perfectly good to me. As others pointed out, the post-RMA-period "unveiled" ones tend to dip down past 1k (like mine), and for some it goes almost to 2k before the dip, those being referred to by some as "super-unveiled". Since yours seems to be more or less in the middle you may have a semi-super-unveiled (tm)(c) LCD-3.

As far as burn-in goes, couldn't really say myself. Sounded great when I got them, still enjoy them very much every day. But since the effect of burn-in is apparently magically always positive, I may get more out of them than I even realize.

P.S.: 2 thumbs up for Black Adder!

I got mine yesterday from a great Head-Fier and I'm very impressed. So far, I've tried jazz, rock and classical. All stellar. I'm using a 2 channel Beta 22 for amplification. It's gonna be hard to listen to other cans for a while, I think!

Congrats, I was eyeing that pair as well. The freq chart drops off right before 3k, so I'm not sure what the grumpy old man would title that pair (ultra-unveiled?)

This looks almost identical to the new chart that came with my updated LCD3 that I got on Monday.  I love mine right out of the box with my 3 board beta 22. I plan to burn them in on my head.

Thanks for the feedback everyone- that puts the hifi paranoia at rest. Right now I'm still tweaking my tube set to match the LCD3, with the set I usually run on the HD800 they lacked top end fizz.

My initial listening thus far puts the Headphone output jack rather than the WA5 balanced 4 pin as the better output for these cans, but it seems evident from the LCD3 that my 4 pin XLR output has hum issues (Simply not noticeable using K1000s)

Isn't it because the jack is specifically for the K1000 and has a wonky impedance?

After 50 hours with these babies Ive decided to return them to my dealer rather than take the plunge.

To my ears the LCD3 don't have enough top end sparkle or fun paired up with my equipment. Whilst the mid's and bass are tuneful and romantic and extremely well presented, they (the cans) seem to have a lack of treble energy and air.

For example Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" - The cymbal crash here, on the LCD3 it sounded recessed against the vocals and bass and didn't give any real contrast to the music. The bottom end certainly carried plenty of rhythm mind.

Sasha's "Bloodlock" - granted the bass on the LCD3 here is top notch, they simply keep going down forever "ruler flat", but the real get up and dance about aspect is lost with the top end tuned down as much as it is on these cans. I found myself getting more lost in the trippy mid's here.

Whilst I could probably tune my system up with interconnects, after market cables and tube changes to prop up the top end some, that would take it in the opposite direction from where it is right now catering for PS1000 and HD800.

Certainly a fresh perspective on all my music collection - just not one I want to keep long term or pay £1500 + New tubes for. Although I will miss the "leather sofa on your head" type experience!

If your profile is up to date I'm not surprised.  Its reads like a anti ortho gear stock pile   Being stuck with the 800 isn't a terrible thing.
