Hi everyone,

We're excited to announce the debut of our new ATH-ADX3000 open-back headphones at CanJam SoCal! These launch on October 24th, but you'll have multiple opportunities to check them out at the show this weekend.

You'll be able to demo them at these booths:
Audio-Technica
Qobuz
@Apos Audio (they'll have the ATH-R70x Refine, too)

We're teaming up with Qobuz for an exciting giveaway! Stop by either of our booths for a chance to win your own pair of ATH-ADX3000s and a 1-year Oobuz subscription. For those who can't make it to the show, keep an eye on our social media channels for another chance to win as we approach the launch date. The prize will ship after the October 24th release.

Exciting things ahead – don’t miss out!

Modelled after our flagship ATH-ADX5000 open-back headphones, the ATH-ADX3000 is designed to bring the natural Open-Air sound to a wider audience. These headphones feature 58 mm integrated driver units, which position the diaphragm, voice coil, baffle and magnet in a single unit, resulting in improved airflow and full-range audio reproduction. This creates an optimum structure, reducing unnecessary sound distortion. The result is full-range audio with natural bass, pure mid and high frequencies, and a precise, realistic soundstage.

From Lead Headphone Engineer, Hiromichi Ozawa:
“Our engineers worked hard to achieve frequencies that are not easy to obtain with natural airflow. Our expertise in driver technology has influenced our approach to open-back headphones, enabling us to ensure the diaphragm moves with the purest motion. For example, with the ATH-ADX5000 we developed innovative technology that integrates the driver into the baffle, resulting in an optimal structure to improve airflow and full-range audio reproduction. This same technology is also employed in the ATH-ADX3000 headphones.”

Features
  • Fully open-back design allows unrestricted airflow to produce natural bass with no artificial resonance while maintaining pure mid and high frequencies
  • 58 mm integrated driver unit design combines diaphragm, voice coil, baffle and magnet in single unit to reduce unwanted vibration
  • Proprietary Core Mount Technology places driver unit in optimal position for improved airflow and reduces unnecessary distortion
  • Driver units utilize a pure iron circuit with efficient magnetic characteristics, resulting in precise sound reproduction
  • Tungsten-coated diaphragm provides high rigidity for an improved transient response
  • Japanese craftsmanship: Each pair of headphones is meticulously assembled from components built in-house, then rigorously tested before leaving our Tokyo factory
  • Magnesium alloy frame results in rigid, thin, lightweight construction
  • Honeycomb-punched housing design blocks side ventilation to prevent undesirable air pressure loss
  • Velour earpads provide amazing comfort and durability
  • Detachable 3.0 m (9.8') cable with A2DC (Audio Designed Detachable Coaxial) connectors at the headphones and 6.3 mm (1/4") gold-plated stereo plug
  • Each pair of headphones comes with a specially designed hard carrying case

If you wanted more people to experience ADX5K sound - Why not bring down the price on the original model? It's been so many years on the market with zero adjustment.
Is there anything new in ADX3K that's not present in 5K?
If your mission was price cut - why not omit the case and go even lower?

The best Headphone i've heard so far from Audio-Technica was the ATH-R70x but i am looking forward to test this to see, how its different.

You know it's gunna be a stupid price when the hardshell is included. I actually own the adx5000 and its disappointing to see these look identical. The adx5000 also have so much room for improvement in sound that I can only assume these will address that. So adx3000 look the same, sound better, and will likely be priced too high. I reckon the launch of these will be a failure but will become popular in a few years as an alternative to the adx5k. Best case sencario, they are similar to r70x but in that case why wouldn't anyone just buy the ~$250 r70x

The ADX3000 is basically a less-sharp, less-flat ADX5000. It has a really impressive soundstage with, to my ears, class-leading sound-staging. It has a drop of warmth that's lacking with the ADX5000, but still maintains a professional studio presentation.

@samz0nite The R70x might cost less, but trust me, they're not close to what you're getting from the ADX3000.

I published my full review here: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/audio-technica-ath-adx3000.27723/reviews

Spoiler: I really, really like it. It's expensive, yes, but not for nothing.
