I noticed that on the new (personal audio) AKG website, many of their portable headphone solutions have new designations, example, the K12P is now the K312P and has a small change in colour. I was wondering if anyone had heard about technical changes to the models, with the K312P in particular as I own K12P's and I noticed the K312P has something called the NdFe magnet, which I didn't see anything about when the K12P was there. I like AKG and I might be considering an upgrade since I also like the K12P's very much.

Is the NdFe magnet the same as the neodymium magnet found on, say the Sennheiser MX70?

What is the NdFe magnet anyway?

That would be neodymium/ferite.
