The Samson is a good choice at $40, it's a nice gaming headphone and will be fine for a variety of music genres and movies. The options are pretty slim at such a low price point, but the Samson's get recommended often.
I have both the SSV2 and the Samson SR850. For gaming, the Samson's do a very well but keep in mind that they are a semi open headphone so they will leak a bit of sound. I go back and forth between the two depending if I need to be quieter on any particular day. I wouldn't worry about them being fake, as they are a knock off of the AKG K240's anyway. Though if you're worried, amazon has them but they cost quite a bit more.
Comfort wise, I thought the stock pads were terrible. I replaced them with the creative sound blaster WoW headset earpads which I think are more comfortable than the SSV2. They seem to be out of stock at the moment though but I would also suggest using velour pads from AKG headphones if you're into that.
Check for feedback from the Ebay seller, they probably are not fake though. It looks like the 39.99 Samson sr850 on ebay is coming from China, but the seller has many positive feedback so you are probably safe.
