Hey folks,

Trying to setup a home system that is neutral (analytical also welcomed). Will probably be hooked up to a computer or a turntable. Currently looking at the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf and the budget would be around the price these currently have ($400). Also, really new to anything not portable so any advice would also be greatly appreciated. For example, I'm not that fond of bass but can definitely appreciate it. Will not having a subwoofer make impact sound that much?
Thanks!

Edit: would probably need amp recommendations as well

At that price point, The Adam Audio T7 powered monitors are probably the best bet.

They're not an "audiophile" brand but their ribbon tweeter is an in house construction. Ribbon tweeters usually sound like garbage, but they've been working on their design for quite some time and put a lot of effort into R&D dialing it in.

The result is a nearfield monitor that you'd have to spend an order of magnitude more to beat.

Thanks for the suggestion! Inclusive of everything for $400. How would I compare sound signature vs the elacs?

I'm not sure. I've never had a chance to listen to the ELAC monitors. I bought the Adam Audio ones w/o any auditioning on the advice of a buddy of mine who works in the pro audio industry. He recommended them without reservation as the unambiguous best in that price point.

A side bonus: between the two of them, they draw less than 150w, so I was able to use them w/ a power inverter while camping! I used them with my phone and a dragonfly cobalt.
