These two drummers, face to face, engage in a contest of epic proportions. Drums so furious and loud, they echo throughout the Earth for ten thousand years. Who will prevail?

And who?

No, seriously... who?

EDIT: Looked him up, and yea... he ****ing rocks. Can't vote, though, since I haven't heard enough of Mastodon's work.

Peart is a technician, Dailor is an artist. He pounds the drums like a primal beast trying to stampede the audience to death. The effect is something so viscerally overwhelming that it would make Peart go crying to his mama.

Ok, maybe that was a bit much, but I vastly prefer Dailor. Most of the reason I love Mastodon is because of him. His own obscurity makes it so he could never win a poll like this though.

The only thing Peart did was prove that rockers could conceivably play as well as jazzers. I still don't care much for his aesthetics though compared to the likes of Dailor, Bonham, Baker, Bozzio, Bruford, or Carey.

Good thoughts.

I enjoy the accuracy and consistency of Peart. His drumming isn't over the top a lot of times, and is technical when the song warrants it.

Dailor satisfies another drumming need of mine, fast and complex fills. I swear some of his songs are ~50% drum fills. He really goes all out on his snare and tom rolls, which is something a lot of drummers are missing.

Neil Peart, the guy is just plain awseome. Up close he is dazzling.

(and I think I saw him smile once. Either that or he was grimacing from the glare off Alex's bald spot ;/)

Neil Peart is too much fancy pants for me.

I played in a band which opened for Mastodon on their European tour about 3 years ago, and let's just say, as a drummer, I was happy to not have to go on after Mastodon...
