Not too many replies, eh. I'll try to contribute a little.

FWIW, I much perfer the Sony MDR-CD580s (never heard the CD780s, which have different drivers) to the D66 eggos for sound and comfort. The D66 eggos are excellent headphones, though.

Get the D66 Eggo, DO NOT get the V700DJ. Sony is a very strange company--it produces a ton of different headphones with most ranging from mediocre to crap but in between all of them are a few diamonds in the rough and the D66 Eggo is one of them.

I would defently go for the D66. they are very nice to ware, and they are they sound very nice. Good mids, highs lows and treb, but the bass sucks (getting better after burn in) IMO.

Stay away from the v700DJ they suck big time, as Patrick wrote. Way to big and uncomtable IMO

Welcome to Head-Fi, sorry about the confusion.

Mind if I ask how you ended up with these three choices? There are many more in the price range. You may want to open up the choices. Plus let us know how portable the phones need to be (know you said at home, but still). Also how important isolation is.

Out of the three, the Sony CD-780's are a bit of the unknown. Haven't heard many (actually any) discuss them. Like Steve999 I had an earlier model (570), which I enjoyed, but can't compare to the 780's (except to say they're both not very portable). The Eggos (D66's) have lots of fans. I'm not really, but I'm in the vast minority. The V series have a much deserved negative rep here. Just beware that very few people have actually heard all three of these. Their opinions are based on other things.

considering my source(a portable cd player) and the price £¬i make the ATH AD7 as my first choice, and one out of the 780/66sl/700DJ as the second.
actually i don't care about the portability(i never listen to the headphone in street),but i do care the sound.
i've got sony e888. it sounds good, but its treble makes me want to throw up at time

. and i also have a sony e238,but the bass of it is so muddy

...

so i just want a new one with great clarity and balance in sound, and great response to the human vocal
how about the AD7?

the ad7's are okay, but they leak and are big compared to the d66. i personally do not like the d66's when i first heard them, but they are generally stylish and good-sounding.

i think the ad7 would sound better. the ad5 might appeal to you, as well: when i heard them side by side, i think the ad5 had a better price / performance ratio (although the grey-ish ad7 looks much better heh)
