I recently bought this SuperMacro IV from another headfier. Opened it up to replace the 8066 opamp and came across this glued thing. Forgive me, but as you probably can guess, I am not a DIYer. What is this and how can I fix it? And no, I can't get the prongs back into the hole. Help please. Miss my amp.

Thanks.

Looks like the previous owner DIY'ed some kind of opamp adaptor.

Opamps usually sit in a socket like this:

Or if you need to put two "single" opamps in place of a "dual" opamp (in this case in the same socket) then the set-up would look like this (using a Browndog adaptor):

The above pictures show "DIP8" form opamps. The ones in your picture look like the "SOIC" type, which have to be soldered onto an adaptor (they are designed to be soldered in place, not sit in a socket).

Ok. Now that I know what it is, is there anyone out there that would fix it for me? For a fee, of course. Rather not send it to Xin for repair as I don't know how long it will be before I receive it back.

unless I am totally wrong, that is the 3'rd channel upgrade/addition which makes the 4 the 4.

I just dealt with XIN, it took him about 6 weeks to do his thing on my 3. not back yet, and Im not exactly sure what he did (but it was FREEE!), but in the mail. YMMV, but he seems to be on the up and up.
