Hey guys,

My friend is looking for a pair of gaming headphones, which will also be used for portable music (pop and rock mainly)
He is looking to spend around 200 bucks, and said that the sound signature he wanted would be generally emphasized on the highs and lows. He has realtek pc audio. He will be listening on his blackberry for portable use. He would like a cable around 1-1.5 meters. He also would like nice soundstage and wants a closed pair.

My suggestions:

CAL! and Creative X-Fi 5.1 (pro or non pro idk)
Denon ah-d1100 with the sound card I just mentioned.

Please help!

Edit: Also, does the sound card turn any headphone into 5.1?

KRK KNS 8400, good prices on eBay right now, for both new and used.
Asus Xonar DG or DGX sound card.

ad700, hd 598, 558, and sr60,80 and 325is, cal, ah d 1100, pc 350, pc 360, htf 600, hd 515, some other ath's that I think arent for gaming, hd 400 line as far as I remember, hd 518, dj100 and the tony bennett version, px 360, mm550 and 450, hd2x8 or 9 series, akg 701 k518dj and some gaming headsets. These are generally whats available in my country also razer orca and a lot of in ears, but Im not gonna tell them because i don't think iems or earphones/earbuds are good for gaming. also es7 and ws7(?) are available I think. and mainly creative sound cards.

for gaming at home, i recommend open headphones with a stand alone mic

when i wear closed headphones while gaming, the panning drives me crazy, it's still there on open headphones but not as bad.

and a stand alone mic normally works better then a built in one

I recommended the 598 with the 5.1 creative sound card but he is going to use it as portable also so it has to be closed
