I've found the main problem with my z5500's is in satellite->subwoofer crossover. I've been able to change this some by a bit of EQ tweaking, but I can't do anything about how my sub starts kicking in at ~250hz. My thinking is that if I can somehow use foobar to output each channel seperately, then the control unit on the Logitech will think its receiving DTS or DD 5.1 or whatever and not worry about the crossover. This way I could tweak the crossover myself and push it a bit lower, down to 100 or something, and have the satellites cover more range.
Does anyone know if the z5500's would be any use if I tried to do this? My fear is that since the sub kicks in at ~250hz, Logitech knew the satellites couldn't do much in that range.
Its looking like I might have to get a new soundcard. I think my friend's Creative PCMCIA soundcard lets him control at what point frequencies begin to be sent to the sub instead of the satellites.
