Finally my preorder for my 829 has finally been shipped! Now, I just need to order a case for it.

Anyone have any suggestions on nice cases for NWZ A82x/A72x?

Thanks

I am also looking for a case, there don't seem to be many available.

I don't like the bulky leather types that fold out with belt clips and click locks etc.

I would prefer a slim-fit case/pouch like you could get for the old NW-A1000.

There is a company called burninglove (!) that do custom size pouches, a little like the iPod socks. They are pretty good, but they only have limited fabrics available.

Don't get the clear one in-store and online. It scratches very easily. I recommend a silicon one.

The trouble with the silicon cases is they don't protect the screen at all. You have to use a screen protector which only protects the screen from scratches, not accidents. I have the clear hard case which covers everything except for the display buttons. I'm not too bothered about it getting scratched since I'd rather that than the screen get damaged! But there are no scratches yet.

i second soozieq.
i've ordered the clear case as well. i've had the original leather case for 818 - nice, but a bit bulky. i've had silicon cases and wallets for vision:m - no protection for a screen.

clear case should be nice, i'll report back with photos.

as for the scratches, you can always use polishing paste (i.e. for swatch watches, or cheap walmart paste for polishing headlights). it makes clear plastic cases shiny and clear again.

Thanks for all the input so far.

I agree w/ you esbleem, I don't like leather cases.

Silicon case seems interesting but are screen protectors easy to remove w/o damaging the dap?

I will look into the clear case further. I guess I don't mind scratches that much since it won't be on the dap but I just wish the button area was silicon covered.

This one. I agree that it would be nice if the button area was covered. It would stop dust getting on the inside, although so far it hasn't. Either way I'm glad I have it since I had a close miss with my 808 when it went flying to the ground and was 'saved' by the case!

Everything is still crystal clear through it too.

I live in the US btw and I don't see it on the sony style website.

I got it from eBay since Sony are dragging their heels yet again in releasing accessories for their own daps

I think someone else already posted this link, but anyway. . .

SONY clear case CKH-NWA820 for NW-A828, NW-A829 on eBay, also Other MP3 Players, Cases, MP3 Accessories, Consumer Electronics (end time 12-Jun-08 20:20:13 BST)

Considering the ridiculous price it is (with shipping to the UK), I'd be surprised if any sane person would buy it. However, I'm not sane, and I'd rather protect my 829 than wait in vain for the case to become available here, by which time there'll probably be a 64GB Sony.

I got my 808 case from eBay too as it took months for it to become available in the UK.

That looks pretty nice, I mainly need a case for dropping the player into a bag when going on trips, that should do the trick.

Just to be "clear", is the screen covered?

Love the text on that ebay auction "the picture is image"

Yes, it's definitely covered. It stops just below the garish red Walkman logo, so the play buttons etc are free.

Thanks for the link. Just bought it.

Cost me around USD $45, including shipping, which is quite expensive. All the savings from getting the 829 at $260 went poof. Oh well, I guess thats the price I pay for being impatient and wanting the coolest looking case.

Hope it comes soon because I think my player will arrive in a day or so.

Mine got to the UK within 3 working days (although he didn't post it for 2 days after I paid.) Still, it was pretty fast even so and got here soon after my 829 (which I protected with my life during the short time it was 'naked'!)
