Hello, I'm new to this site. I need a pair of closed headphones for under $50 and I'm thinking of Sony's MDR-XD300 (from Office Depot). I've read a good review on these from another member and it looks kind of stylish. Can anyone suggest me better headphones for under $50 or should I just go with these? Thanks.

they haven't been mentioned much bc they're new, if you do a search, there's been a few favorable reviews. take a chance, check out those new sony's and tell us if they're good!

Try doing a search on "XD200" or "XD400" and you'll come across a few posts. They're new to the U.S. market, and were previously only available through AudioCubes, so there aren't many owners. I know user tsplash##(75?) has the XD400 and is very fond of it.

Well known member bangraman got himself an XD200 after hearing a friend's. He posted an XD200 review on his blog.

I just got my XD200 in from Amazon today and am listening to them right now. It's too early for me to give them a full review, but I'm quite pleased thus far. The bass is a bit much, but this is only with an hour of use. I imagine that it will tone down and tighten up over time. Build quality is my main complaint, but then I remember that they are only $25.

I'll post some more in-depth remarks after they've had a chance to burn-in for a couple of days, but initial impressions are pretty positive.

unfortunately, i haven't heard them, but many people like the px-100 (i'm a PortaPro man myself), and if you get a good seal, these should sound nearly as good.

I was very unimpressed by the px200's. i guess they would be good if you could get a decent seal but they are just so picky its really hard to get them to fit right.

Its not like my ears are weird or anything its just that they are tricky to fit. if you can demo them and you like em go for it.

For portable use, the Sony V6 might be what you're looking for. Groovy sound, good midrange and plenty of bass although a little bit bloated perhaps. Decent comfort but not recommendable for people with relatively big ears. The Sony V6 can be found for around $40-60 used (ebay, here in the for sale forums).
