First, what's the best suggested headphone I can get for 20$ or under? I'm getting a birthday present for my sister and she needs something better than her stock crapcans that came with her Audiophase sport cd/mp3 player. As I'm sure anyone here already knows, I use SR60's like they are the sheez (And they are, no doubt), but I can't affort getting a 70$ present for anyone except a lady, preferrably unrelated, LMAO cause I'm a lamo?.

How's my new quote and pic? Hope it gives you all the common cold, or a smile, I forgot which, ha ha ha.

Sennheiser MX-400's or MX-500's might be a solution.

I'd recommend to check the Creative HQ-1300 (aka Labtec Elite 840).

Greetings from Hannover!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out. Just remember, I'm on a 20$ budget here, so free shipping is a plus as well.

More to add: I checked out the mx400 and mx500, they seem great, but I've also checked out the koss ksc-50, and I've seen it as cheap as 17.50$ total w/shipping, and I'm interested in their warranty. The Creative HQ1300's are too expensive after shipping, unfortunately, so I'll have to pass, but thanks for the suggestion anyhow. The more, the better, I always say.

KSC-55 are wonderful for the $15 that I paid for mine. Sometimes I think they are still getting better with use, I've had them almost a year now. At any rate, I can switch back to them from much more expensive headphones and still go "wow, these sound good!" They don't have the level of detail of the more expensive headphones, but still manage to provide very enjoyable listening.

The KSC-50 are supposed to have the same driver as the 55 but in an ear-clip style.

Hunt around for Philips HP170. I use to have these, and for the money they're pretty good. Amazon has them for $15 right now. RiteAid and many local dealers carry them in stock too. If you can get the KSC-55, though that route may be best. There may also be some Koss special right now. Search for a coupon here.

The Koss KSC55 is very very good. A bit plasticy, but it sounds far better than I thought it would. Painful as hell though as it clamps so tight - not recommended if your sister has some sort of giant sized head on her shoulders.

I'll check up on the phillips, and no I don't think she'll complain about earclips. Look over to bestbuy.com and check their audiophase sport cd/mp3 player. Those headpohes are the ones she uses and they SUCK.
Keep those recommendations coming!!

the MX500s are earbuds, and i've seen them at J&R Music World for 18 bucks.

MX550's, huh? Sounds interesting. I wonder how they stack up to the Koss offerings or those Phillips or Creative offerings...

Keep the replies coming!

my first halfway decent headphones were hp-x222's and they had their problems with the single sided cord becoming frayed internally. Othet than that, I'll check your recommendation, and if you're the same takashi from my glass grado post, I wonder if you can suggest any other low to non resonant materials to use.

Keep 'em coming while I listen to the MGS3 Snake Eater 15min trailer!!
