Need some new Music. Got me a pair of PM-3 headphones, and everything is good again. Kind of want to experiment with trance.

I get into moods.  I was huge into music in the 90s, and that is still what I listen to mostly.  Shoegaze, industrial, grunge, classic rock as well.  I remember back in the day, getting "enhanced" and going to raves.  I kind of miss the music and the scene.  The music is still around, but the scene, thankfully, is kind of dead.  I don't know what to buy, or try.  I think I like trance, but with all the sub genres, I don't know where to begin.

I bought a few albums to try out, but was looking for some other recommendations.

Tiësto ~ Magikal Journey: The Hits Collection 1998

        Moby ~ Moby

Paul van Dyk ~ Volume: The Best of Paul Van Dyk [D

Swedish House Mafia ~ Until Now [Deluxe Edition]

Chicane ~ Far from the Maddening Crowds

        John Digweed ~ Bedrock

Sasha ~ Global Underground: San Francisco [UK]

Sasha + John Digweed ~ Northern Exposure: Expediti

        Ride ~ Going Blank Again

The Ride album is just because I love Ride.

Digweed Bedrock, Sasha GU and Northern Exposure are all great albums. Good pics to start. With the small amount I dabble in Trance seems we have similar tastes. Try some of these out:

Anthony Pappa Nubreed
GU 023 - James Lavelle Barcelona
GU 026 James Lavelle Romania
Sander Kleinenberg Nubreed - Or really, ANYTHING by Sander Kleinenberg
GU Nubreed 006 Satoshi Tomiie - He also just released a new album as well
Steve Lawler Lights Out
U.N.K.L.E War Stories - Easily one of my favourite albums ever
GU Afterhours screwed Up And Wasted/Party After The Party

Other Artists to watch for
Craig Richards
Lee Burridge
Misstress Barbara - More house but a phenomenal Canadian DJ
DJ Shadow - The Less You Know, The Better
Mark Farina

Thanks. I like the higher energy sounds apes. The slower stuff kind of bores me. I come from more of a punk background so I tend towards a more aggressive mix, somewhat. The thing that is intimidating about edm is the sheer number of mixes out there. There isn't the traditional "album" really. That is what's difficult. With Moby, and the Crystal Method, etc, you can get that. But with a lot of the stuff, it seems like trading Grateful Dead bootlegs.

Agreed, and its kind of why I drifted away from the genre. It was impossible to keep up with. I had a guy how worked at a local record shop that learned my tastes and once every couple of weeks I'd go in and he'd have a few choice albums set aside for me. Never questioned him, guy was amazing. Once he left and moved on I stopped buying electronica albums for the most part. I'm a big supporter of digital music, but I'd happily go back to physical media if there more guys like that around.

Anyways, sorry to drift off topic, If the higher energy is what your looking for, definitely check out Misstress Barbara Relentless Beats series.
