saturday night i took my little bro and sis to go out and eat...came back late at night and parked my car in my driveway. the doors were locked with the exception of the trunk(its a '91 mazda mpv van)...next time i see my car in the afternoon next day, i find that my ipod is missing along with the car adapter cassette. the passenger side door is unlocked but closed and the trunk is down but not secure(didn't find out about the trunk until later when i drove and found that a door was open). THey didn't take anything else (my clothes, garage opener, and some junk...) . I'm just wondering if there anything i should do. I already regret not calling police or something, but i'm clueless. I'm guessing its some punkass from the high school across the street that night or something. One possible way to get it back is to post some fliers for a reward and no questions asked, but any other way to either regain my ipod or to find this guy and get him?

you might try the reward idea. there might be a chance that the thief doesn't have a computer capable of loading files even if they use mp3's already or a way of charging it.

someone with the knowledge of what they need to use an ipod probably isn't a thief. so, they'll collect the reward or sell it.

you might want to post around the local school or talk to school officials to see if a student has bought a used ipod from another student recently.

If you have insurance that covers against stuff in cars, take it out to the middle of nowhere, throw a brick through the window, drive back and ring the Police/Insurance co and tell them someone's broken into your car and taken your precious.

DO NOT TELL THEM THAT THE CAR WAS LEFT UNLOCKED, DO NOT TELL ANYONE ELSE THAT THIS HAPPENED DAYS AGO.

I hope that helps.

i like the reward idea, it may or may not work.

also, as any thief will have no way of using the ipod without paying loads for the accessories, check local pawn shops, the serial number is engraved on the ipod is it not, if you take in the orginal box, with also the serial number on, and a receipt for your purchase, you can get the police to force them to give your ipod back to you.
