Hey all,

Been coming here a while and reading all the opinions and learning as much as I an and this is my first post here! I'll introduce myself first and then ask for your advice on what I've narrowed my choice down to for my next pair of headphones.

My name is Vincent and I'm from Massachusetts. I started getting into home theater audio a few years back, and after buying my house I finally got together a really nice Atmos setup. During my time putting this together I started wondering about headphones. I never really took the plunge into higher end headphones but have always had decent pairs in the 200 range. My current stable is as follows; Airpods for my train commute to the office, MH40's for my desk at work plugged into a Magni/Modi Combo, and then some AD-900X that I use for gaming and on my PC at home. When I'm at the office I can put some decently long sessions in and the MH40's just kill me. They are super heavy and fatigue my ears. So, I was interested in getting another pair of headphones I can use for longer sessions while at the office. I decided my budget would be around the $1000 mark as I want a great experience with my music, I enjoy getting lost in the music while I work. I typically listen to early to mid 2000's punk, some modern day hip-hop, and EDM. I do travel a bit for work and would hope that maybe this set of cans can come on a plane or train easy enough, but I know those higher end headphones can be hard to drive. So, I've whittled my list down to the Aeon Flow Closed, the Campfire Cascade, and possibly stretching up to the ZMF Eikon if my Magni/Modi can drive it well.

Anyway, it is nice to meet all you and I can't wait to continue to learn from all of you.

Vincent

$1000 budget is fantastic and allows you tons of amazing options. You're probably going to get a bunch of people just telling you to buy what they personally own..and I'm no different. I just picked up a closed back (perfect for office) Sony MDR-Z7M2 and I find them to be fantastic. They're going for around $500 imprted from Japan on eBay right now, which is a steal. I legit paid $900 for mine from Amazon US. I find them to be worth every cent of that $900 too.

Thanks for the feedback here, I haven’t even seen about these in my research. Will these be driven fine from the magni/modi combo?

Oh yes for sure. I drive them from my portable rigs but they defijetoy sound best out of my desktop PC which has a really nice sounding Creative ZXR soundcard in it. So the headphone scales nicely with more high powered sources. So you could probably power it with your cell phone but then really enjoy it at your desktop setup.
