Need some help choosing a quality pair of entry-mid rang level, over ear headphones. Mostly for ambient, postrock, slowcore, emo music

Hi, i have been dipping my feet into to world of headphones lately and I am wanting to purchase a decent pair, but i am getting to a point where it is starting to eat me up, so i would really appreciate some assistance and for you more experienced listeners to shed more knowledge onto me. I have looked at buyer's guides and have browsed quite a bit of headphone forums and have been through a bit of Reddit's headphone subreddit.
 
 
Looking for:
 
$175ish price range. I am willing to fluctuate the price a bit up and down, but hopefully not too much over $200 
 
My source will mainly be my Samsung Galaxy S3, so something portable and be able to run ampless would be nice.
 
I will also tend to use these in public so closed headphones would be also preferred so i can have minimal leakage and hopefully having some sound isolation would also be nice.
 
Tonally i would like an neutral sound maybe a touch up on bass and highs, but overall just clear and full sounding and a decent soundstage
 
Comfort is preferred, but i would definitely take sound quality over comfort
 
And a detachable cable is a definite want

You should consider Shure SRH-840. They have good bass and detailed highs, but still pretty neutral presentation. They come with extra pads and detacheable cable.
SRH-840 don't need extra amplification and its built quality is very good.

I find it interesting that a lot of the recent help requests have asked for a 'phone recommendation with a detachable cable. Why is that important? I have been using headphones for decades, some with a detachable cable - but I have never once actually detached the cable (other than to just see how it worked)

I have looked at the SRH 840s and they seem to be good. There  also another pair that I have been looking while, the Ultrasone pro 550. I know they are not as hyped as most headphones but  whole "s-logic" sounds really interesting. What do think, right  I  definitely leaning to the 840s though.

I personally like detachable cables for  convenience and also extremly paranoid of the wire possibly getting messed. With a canle being  it is an easy fix.

Like most things that mess with the sound, people either really like S-Logic or they really hate it. I don't have an opinion - I have not heard it.
