It can be replaced with a NET725 but I would rather upgrade the opamp not just replace it. The opamp goes in a driver board for a Harman Kardon citation 16. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I meant the NTE725. I would like to upgrade this part. Not just replace it with a knockoff. PPL are you out there? I will have to look at the thread you posted later Budgie. That site is blocked here at work. Thanks for the reply.

The post I linked is from Audio Asylum, asking the same question as yours. The reply lists these chips as replacements-
LM1303
SN76131
TBA231
MC1303P

I can't say how accurate that info is, but I thought it might help.

the 739 is a 14 pin Dip and is external comp. the last time i had to upgrade one of these was to use a 8 lead Metal can dual opamp that is internaly compensated and arange the leads to match the + and - input the output and Vcc and Vee rails. i used a metal can AD712 with sonic improvements.
