Hello

I have bought most of the parts for my millett hybrid amp,but im missing some parts,and need some help finding them.

Im buying my parts here http://www.elfa.se/en/

Here is the parts im missing:
10 x .22uF Film Cap (can't find anyone that is close to the parts list specs)
2 x 1N5291 (or something else i can use)
2 x 0.01uF axial ceramic cap ( don't know what this is)

If anyone could help me find these parts or any equalent parts, it would be great

I believe that others have used this cap. Hopefullly someone can verify that for you.

For the other two parts you may have to look at different sources, I'm sure others will help here.

Well,looks like i've gotten hold of som 12AE6A tubes atleast or should i say atlast

Just missing the parts stated in this tread.

The 0.22uF cap, it's says that it should be 160v in the parts list,cant fint anything like that.

but i can find plenty of 0.22uF 250v or 400v ones,can i use this?

Any of those would work fine, you don't need caps rated for any higher than 35V in reality, above that you're just getting an extra margin of safety.

250V should be fine spec-wise but you need to make sure they fit on your board

The axial capacitor will be like a resistor with a single lead out of each end. Typical caps are radial when both leads come out of one end.

In a pinch you can just use a resistor here. It will increase the distortion a bit due to altering the tube's load line, but, at least as a short term solution, should be fine. See Pete's original article (and probably a 12ae6a data sheet) to figure out what is appropriate for the resistor.

You can also use a LM317 (get a TO-92 version as it will fit better) and a resistor (connected to the legs) but this will take some creative wiring. To figure out how this would go together, see http://diyparadise.com/yhlmccs.html

The tubes are on their way from italy tomorow,what to do without ebay :S

Ok,i'll go and buy 0.22uF caps tomorrow then

+ the tube sockets.
0.01uF axial ceramic cap,i should be able to buy this aswell.

Just missing a board + the 1N5291 or any alternate to this?can't find anything like the two diffrent ones in the parts list,doesn't help that i don't know what this part is..

Take a look at the list here. http://www.diyforums.org/millett.html

Instead of the 0.22uF you can use 0.10uF.
For the 1N5291 you can use either 1N5291 or J503. It's a diode.
For the 0.01uF really any ceramic cap will work.

There was also another parts list somewhere floating around that had different parts used.

Now im only missing 1N5291 or J503. These should be available somewhere i hope. Isn't there any other diode i can use?

No, it is a CRD which means it is a constant current source. It is a diode in that current only moves in one direction, but if you put a regular diode there you will be unhappy. If you can't get the suggested part, see the 2 suggestions above, either one of which will work, but which will require some learning on your part.

No, but from the OP's confusion about what caps to use, I would assume that he/she is reasonably new to this and might take it that way. Just being sure
