Up until today i've had no problems with my EMU 0404 soundcard.
However, today I received my Nebula DigiTV USB TV card that receives freeview. My friend has the PCI version, and also the 0404 and it runs just fine.
So I install the USB device, and it works fine, one problem - no sound.
So I try Foobar. No sound anymore from that.
Check patchmix, the VU meters are moving to indicate its getting audio (from both the TV card and Foobar) but no sound is coming out.
So i tried updating the drivers to the latest ones from the EMU site. This causes patchmix to crash. So I revert to the old ones.
Still no sound.
Disconnect the TV card and quit the TV card software completely. Still no sound.
Swap the card to a different PCI slot. You guessed it, no sound.
So now, with my system exactly as it was before (i.e. no TV card), i can no longer get any sound from anything.
This doesnt make sense.
My mates have had problem with it before, but he fixed it by moving to a different PCI slot. But this hasnt worked for me.
I am starting to think that the EMU is a POS as far as stability is concerned.
Anyone offer any suggestions as to what i can try when i get in from work?
