Hi,

I am currently looking to go for the best possible pair offull sized headphones to use for listening to music on my laptop. My budget for this would be $75 to $150. Thus far I have owned the following headphones:

1. Shure E2c - Used with a Nomad Zen NX and burnt it out along with the Zen after about a year and a half of extensive use. I am currently using these with a 16 gb Zen V Plus and still am in love with the quality of the music for the price i paid.

2. Koss Pro3AAs - I have used two of these headphones with various output sources, including nakamichi receivers, desktops, as well as laptops and assorted mp3 players. These were okayish in retrospect but I loved them as they were my first intro to full cup headphones.

3. Koss UR29s - I burnt out three of them within a month causing the clerk at Circuit city to suggest i upgrade to the Pro3AAs.

4. Sony MDR-V700DJ - Loved these headphones, especially as I managed an ebay deal to get them at about 20 bucks brand new in box. Woot on that....but still ended up wearing them out after 6 months of use (there was a loose contact somewhere in them)

5. Etymotic ER-4Ps - These were great, a little light on the bass, but at the same time provided amazing clarity of sound....I ended up giving them to my father after seeing him lost in heaven listening to led zep.

I tend to have a very ecelectic taste in music listening to several different styles, including, rock (classic, hard, metal), alternative, jazz, trance, world fusion, carnatic, hindustani, indian fusion, orchestral/symphonic rock, Old hindi songs (kishore kumar, mohammed rafi, lata mangeshkar, rd burman and the like), ar rehman, a bit of western classical. I also enjoy watching movies and am a big fan of OSTs and orchestral scores (hans zimmer, es posthumus, globus, immediate music, klaus badelt, howard shore, clint mansell etc).

I am looking for a good pair of headphones which I can use for about a year to two years at the least. I tend to listen to most of my music on the headphones and being a bit of an addict tend to listen to music for several hours at a stretch. Thus it is important that the headphones should be comfortable for listening to music for a long time (if it needs to come off every 30 minutes or every hour, then its not a good option for me). It would be ideal if I did not have to use an amp to power the headphones. If there is definitely a need for an amp then the amp plus headphones must fit within the 150 budget.

While I am interested in the Alessandro MS-1's I would love phones that minimize sound leakage.

Thanks

G
