Hello,

I was looking to buy a new pair of headphones with a budget around $100.
So I did some research and came to deciding between the Audio Technica ATH-AD700 and the Sennheiser HD555.

I'm still a little confused about which headphone would be the best choice with me, as of right now I'm leaning more towards the AD700. Some people might say AD700 is better for gaming and HD555 is better for music/movies and some people say its the opposite.

So I need help making a decision, although I do quite a bit of gaming watching movies and listening to music is more important to me than in-game sound.

Also comfort is an important factor for me as well.

Is the AD700 the best option for me?

Also if I do get the AD700 is there a cheap amp I can get? I read that the FiiO E5 works well with it but I'm kind of worried about these buzzing sound people talk about. Is investing in a E5 amp worth it?

Thanks!

You always ask that and you even have it in your sig, yet I see you posting about the same things not including your source or associated gear. Stop trying to be a gear Nazi if you aren't going to do it yourself.

I intend for my posts to be helpful (as I'm sure you do too), like my previous post in this thread. My apologies if you have not found all of my previous posts to be as helpful. I welcome you and everyone to point out any of my future posts that do not seem as helpful as what I have requested in my signature. Of course I consider such posts helpful, and so I will continue posting likewise. Thank you.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll probably be using it with an onboard soundcard/motherboard or whatever. I will possibly buy a usb sound card int he future.

I've enjoyed the HD555 with a sound card, but I have not used the AD700. FWIR, most who have used both preferred the AD700. And so you're more likely to prefer the AD700. For a USB DAC/amp, I suggest the HotUSB1. For an inexpensive amp, I suggest the Fiio E5. And better than both, I suggest HotAudio's Mark IV.
