ok, so ive been doing some research and reading and such... still havent completely decided on what i want...

im currently using a RCA Lyra 1071 FYI
also i just bought a pair of almost new Shure E2c's off a forum member

so as far as my looking goes

512mb

Samsung YP-C1X (that 42 hours battery life is attractive)
iAudio5... (40 hour battery life, stylish, and plenty of features)
Ipod Shuffle Refurb (49 w/ free shipping plus great SQ)

1GB

iAudio G2... (40 hour battery life)
iAudio G3... (50 hour battery life
Apple Nano (14 hour battery life, nice screen, 129 from apple store)

4GB

Apple Mini Refurb from Apples store (decent storage and better battery life)

5GB

Olympus M:Robe (best bang for the buck storage, ultra sexy)

20gb

Apple 4G Refurb from Apple Store (great storage)

apple has some of the best deals as far as looks, storage, and decent sound quality... but the whole battery thing and hdd thing is kinda iffy with the HDD players

Opympus M:Robe... olympus dosent make players any more... still has some support... decent pricing on replacement batterys... issues with "bricking" and dieing... but an extreamly SEXY player

jetAudio... mmm Cowon... my roomie (a forum member here) just bought the iAudio M5 with some UltamateEars Super.fi 5pro and i love the sound quality of the combo (500kbs OGG Vorbis Rip)

the samsung... 42 hours on a AAA battery... enough said... also hear samsung usually has fairly decent sound quality

thanks for the help in advance

This is how i would rank companies SQ:

In Order, 1st is best...and i'm judging companies that are still in business so rio don't count.

1. Cowon (its iAudio, not jetaudio btw)
2. Creative
3. Iriver
4. Apple
5. Sony

maybe you should look for the iaudio G3, which has about 50hr battery life off a single AAA. sounds good too...also in 2GB size.
