Click for larger pictures. Do they look like electrostats or electrets?

Nope. Those are old cheap paper cone driver dynamics. Good value for say, 5 bucks, if you're lucky. Personally I'd stay well away, my guess is they sound awful.

they say 8 impedance on the side. If these were electrostats wouldn't you think they have higher impendence.

Yeah, the brochure pics i linked to say 8 ohms as well.

Electrostatic headphones don't have ohmic impedance. Not in the usual sense anyway - it's more meaningful to state their capacitance. But nobody bothers to.

Keep in mind, if you do buy them, 8 ohm impedance means that you need something with a lot of oomph to drive them.

Like a solid state speaker amplifier (with headphone jack) from the same era.

It's true that capacitance is the only meaningful spec but they have impedance as well. A 4070 is about 145k at 10kHz.. ;p

Those headphones will sound like crap but you could use the housing for some other drivers.

Mmmm... cardboard fartphones. I'm gonna use that to describe phones I don't like from now on.
