ohh don't get me wrong I read alot more then I post here. Anyways since I haven't bought any new headphones lately (besides koss portapro), 3 knights ago I decided to upgrade my home set. At the moment I am using akg k271 with zu mobious cable, headfive amp and sony sacd player. I also use my grado sr60 with this set as well as my er-4p's with "s" cable. I also swich my source to Ipod or my laptop once in a while. I don't think I am loyal to specific sound singnature since I like all my headphones. I was considering senn's hd-650 (until I saw the price) then I looked at akg's k701 (since I love my k271) and I heard about beyer's dt-880. I don't want higher models from grado since I had sr-225 before. and I am not planing to buy a new amp or source.

so my main choices are k701 and dt880. I know there are lots of threads out there about these two but my main question is which one of these would fit better with my amp???

I listen all kinds of music..and my buget is around $250. Please let me know if any of you guys have any of these headphones with headfive..and give me some ideas.

Thanks

Pico is driving DT880 250Ohm with ease, I don't even use high gain. Not familiar with Head5 though. They are harder to drive than K271S but really not by much.

I've had both headphones with the headfive at one point. As far as volume goes, the dt880'250 is a lot harder to drive than the k701. As far as sound quality goes, both have their minor differences, yet they are both very good headphones.

I am leaning towards k701 anyways...I know that around here people complaint about the lack of bass but same thing goes for the k271 and after burn in k271 was fantastic...and since I had k271 I am okay with k701...the only thing is dt880 is 50 dollars less then 701...but I can spend that extra to get what I want

Keep in mind that bass quantity wise that goes like this
K271S > DT880 > K701
And DT880 has *substantially* less bass than K271S, I personally did not find K271S's bass lacking at all, so be prepared for quite a dramatic change.
