My budget is 1500 dollars and this is what I'm thinking of getting:
Speakers: B&W 686 bookshelf speakers - $450

Reciever (or what I'm going to use since all I need to run to it is my speakers): Rotel RC-1082 - $700

Source: ??? Someone help me pick a CD player. I would really like something with 5 CD's and not just one.
The reason I wanted to go with a pre-amp as a reciever is because I look at it as a long term investment basically. Anyway, today I went to a bunch of audio shops in New Orleans to go check out some speakers. I listened to Klipch, Boston, and some other companies from the stores I went to and by far the best sounding speakers I heard were the B&W. I mean in my opinion there wasn't even a compitition (even though some of the speakers I listened to were 800+ dollars). Anyway, the set up that they had going at the store was a Rotel CD player, Rotel Reviever, hooked up to the sexy 686. I can't express how much power comes out of these little babies, but what struck me the most was the accuracy in the sound. I was blown away and when I heard they were 450 for the pair I was pumped up. I listened to the 685's as well and I don't think the sound quality difference is worth 150 dollars (they go at 600 a pair).
Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.
