I just purchased some HIFIMAN Sundaras (coming in next week) but don't currently have any other hardware to help drive them and produce better sound (previous headphones didn't need an amp). I would feel kinda weird spending more on a stack (ex: asgard 3/modius) than I did on my headphones but if there would be a significant difference over a cheaper stack I would consider it. Total budget would be ~$300 and I'm open to waiting to buy things used.

I don’t know what Cavalli does but all of his amps love planars. I have a original Liquid Carbon a Monoprice Liquid Platinum and a Monoprice Liquid Spark and they all love my planars so I would take a look at a Liquid Spark at $109 would be in your budget for sure. Then whatever dac you want a Modi 3 is good or a Khadas Sound Board measures very well and have both and not much difference between them for me. I also have a Magni 3 and JDS Atom and for my planars the Spark is what I would pick. That is me and just my opinion.
