Hey I'm totally new to writing on this site even though ive been reading for a while and I badly need help. I am a 16yr old with VERY little money. I'm thinking about probably getting a MG head and a tube upgrade but i've been reading that i should run that out of my reciever which is a cheap $150 sony bought basically because i needed something that could decode DTS. so if i get the MG head, which i hopefully will, i would probably run it straight from my cd player (which is not that great) and into my Senn 580s (which i love but only have my P.O.S. reciever to drive). Is that fine running it straight into this or willl it not sound nearly as good as running it through a good reciever or pre-amp.

the only reason you'd use the receiver or a preamp is if you had a speaker setup and wanted in incorporate the mg head through the tape loop. connecting the mg head directly to your cd player is both the best and easiest way to run it.
