Budget: $150-200

Something better then the Skullcandy Skullcrusher (http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/skullcrushers-black-pinstripe) and the astro A40

Prefer headphones that don't require an amp to sound good.

I have looked through a couple headphones and not really sure if they are great for my purpose.

These headphones are...

Audio Technica M50

Sennheiser 558

ES-FC300

The Onkyo ES-FC300 are definitely very nice for the price (I just got a pair). Have you seen this review? http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/delightful-onkyo-es-fc300-and-es-hf300

I haven't directly compared the Onkyos with the M50s yet (I loaned them to someone at work), but I do like them better.

What sources are the headphones being plugged into?
Does it matter if the headphones are open or closed?
