Hey everyone... i am new to here, and ive been reading abt what people say about the amps for SE530... and i do not know which one to buy now...

basicly i carry my ipod 5.5gen everyday with my SE530, i use 320kbps mp3 for must of the music, so i guess the source is not that bad... but i found the music is kinda thin... n some part r just not bright enough... and as always, lack of bass on ipod..

so i guess im looking for an amp that will fix those problems... make the sound "thick" n with good extention, plus warmer sound, cost around 400$.

i saw people said the towahawk is good... n some people say the R 51 mustang is not reali good pairing with SE530, and also some people say an amp for IEM wont make a big different... so please help me... i need better SQ.... tired of the ipod sound during work...

thanks

Thin? The SE530's are known for being warm as well as smooth. Are you sure you're getting a seal? Have you tried different sources?

An amp will probably not help much. Make sure you have a good seal first, and try different sources to see if the ipod is indeed the problem.

Not sounding bright is kind of a SE530 trademark signature, but definitely not bass shy. SE530 is, by itself, fairly thick, warm and plenty of bass.

thanks for reply... I also tried on my 3rd gen ipod, n my old MD players which i actually recored by using optical at taht time..... as well as my computer, those sounds kinda focused on mid n low range, the high range is gone, the sound is smooth, but just have a feeling its not what i like to hear....

Try the TF10 pro, then sell ur shures or trade them for an amp if you still want one. Or sell the TF10 pro if u dont want it any more, both sell pretty well here on the FS forums.

thanks for telling me the SE530 signature... i was expecting some good female vocal(mid to high)... the reason why i point out on my ipod its "bassless" is because that is where i store my music now, i just dont have time to do organize my musics again, thats y i was thinking to get amp with me. *sigh*
right now u guys making me feel maybe i should change earphones...

Yeah the SE530's are notorious for rolled off treble. I might even suggest the IE8's which have great treble extension and bass, although among the top end IEMS they are all pretty good.

I had the Triple Fi's and I was really unhappy with them. I wanted to like them...I really did. But I couldn't get a good enough seal, and I found them too be very shrill and harsh. My left ear would hurt after only about a half hour of listening!

I bought the Shure 530's after hearing them in a shop. I was stunned! I bought them shortly thereafter. You really do need to get a good seal. Try the different tips they come with. You also have to pull on your outer ear as your insert IEMs; it helps the seal to do this, and even open your mouth as you're inserting them. Sounds weird, but it does help!

I do use an amp with them though; I bought an iBasso D10 and found it did help. Everyone's different though

Give them a shot and sell 'em if it doesn't work out. It really won't be a total loss.

Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

My own personal way to test a seal is just listen to a somewhat bassy track and see which has the loudest bass, and usually the tips with the most prominent bass are the best seal, or you can google sensaphonics seal test.

thanks for that seal test... i checked and it is not the sealing problem... so maybe it just i dun like the signiture of the se530 that much... hm.. maybe that is the reason why i want to try an amp
