Hi my name is John. I'm  completely new to the audio world. I love this site and have learned so much from the forums that I decided to join today. I moved beyond he basic mp3 formats with stock earphones to lossless files and higher quality in ear and over ear headphones. I have all my music which is quite a bit tied into iTunes.so I'm using an iPod classic 160g  as my source. I recently bought the HIFI man 500 and need help driving them. I know these cans are not intended for portable use but I just want to know what components I would need to buy to enjoy these headphones while using my music library. I do have the centerance 720, the JDS odac and a few Fiio's. None are cutting it for these particular headphones. I contacted Schiit for an amp recommendation and they responded that its really my source that is only giving half power. IPods have only 1V line out as opposed to 2V. How do I remedy this without having to repurchase all my music? I'm not stuck on my Ipod but just my ITunes library. It does not have to be portable setup but just need to access my music. Also I do have a pioneer VSX-90 at home. Any help would be appreciated. -John

Any decent amp/dac (Modi and Magni) should do just fine.

If youre looking to get out of iTunes, just copy all the music files you have into a music folder on a different media player (foobar, etc.)

I don't have the 500's but have the 400's and they need power to get the most out of them. The fiio x12 monte blanc will drive them to ear split levels. Not sure what Fiio's you have. I found that the X1 would not run them alone. I agree with Horizon44 transfer your files as it will give you more options. The Dac's you have are fine . Have you tried hooking the iPod up to the Pioneer? It should have enough power to run them I would think. There are about a hundred ways you can go with this it depends on the amount you want to spend . If you sync your iPod on a computer the files will be there also just don't know your setup.
