Need HDD player with Line out and Optical out...Iriver ihp-140 known

Hello all
i need a HDD player with an optical and line out on it.
What players are out there.
Also people who have used the IHP-140 could you advise if the optical out bypasses the amplification or DAC stage completely or is there a DAC stage involved before the Optical/Line out
please advise

It seems that the optical out of the Iriver is NOT that good ...

Maybe I'll keep my Ipod ???

just bought the IHP140 today and will tell you guys what I think of the sound out of the DAC1.
Personally I think It will do quite well.
Right out of the box the IHP sounds a lot fuller and cleaner than the IPOD. It is more lively compared to the IPOD, the ipod has this dull sound which makes me look at other things rather than listen to the music.
I guess I don't like Ipod presentation.

Congratulations for your purchase ! If the optical out is good, the combo with the DAC1 (or maybe the Apogee Minidac) could be a killer configuration !!

Sure, not cheap, but maybe worth the money ...

all I will say is the benchmark DAC is definitely worth every penny, deadly accurate and a treat to listen to .
I just plugged in the XLR to RCA cables and the new optical cable.
The difference is becoming noticeable by the minute.
Now all I need to get is a mini toslink adapter.

no, i'm just messing. hopefully it will. i just hear so much about this chroma thing it sounds like the holy grail
