Hai Guyz! lol j/k

First post in a few weeks,

I managed to get away from the curse for a while but now I need a source since my sources atm are.. ipod video.. really bad and.. a computer with stock soundcard.

I want a good tabletop CD source.

I heard about Denon/Onkyo.. both of those brands any good? If so.. what models?

Give me the affordable, expensive, very expensive but good, and everything about CD sources you guys can offer. And tell me what you reccomend.

When I first looked here, I was really confused since I didn't know most of the brand names. Could the model you suggest briefly like?
for ex.

Denon - Japanese audio company.. has been around for a while.. etc

Thanks,
Nenso!

Use the search function.

Most SACDs are classical music, there is very little popular music on SACD. Go to sa-cd.net to find what is on SACD.

Not everyone here agrees that SACD is better than CD. I suggest that you listen for yourself.

what do you mean by tabletop? a full size cd player? or some small odd size?

anyways, try to be more specific.
i'd personally pass on sacd if you already have a large cd collection.

I will gladly recommend the CDP I currently use; the Musical Fidelity A5. After reading several raving reviews of it I took the chance of getting it without listening, and I must say I'm really enjoying it so far. I've only compared it to the NAD S500 which I beforehand thought was a pretty good player, but after seconds of play after switching to the MF it was obvious how much this player opens up the sound. Switching back to the S500 felt like the music was compressed really badly.
I paid around $3000 for this player, but it's most likely alot cheaper in the US

I've used a Linn Mimik and then a Linn Ikemi for a while. Neither one is super detailed, but both are musical.

Before those, I tried players from Arcam, Sony (not ES), Adcom, Creek, and Rega. I found the Rega Planet easy to listen to as well.
