I may be getting my Sennheiser HD555 sold today.

I need a closed headphone as the AC and Fan in this room is loud as hell.

I heard the HD280 PRO senns are better and gives far better bass than the HD555?

I only have $100 US max to spend.

With $100 budget, the 280 Pro is right up your alley. I don't recall how bassy they are (haven't used mine for a couple years), but they will definitely keep out the noise. One thing I did not like about them (when I was using them regularly) was the coiled cord.

EDIT: I just re-read your subject and I must confess that I used them for watching movies, not for music. Sorry...

hmm one of my main reason for selling the HD555 is to get a proper bass driven headphone.

The HD 280 is like 59% off on Amazon so you get it for $86 instead of $200.

is the Grado SR 80 better?

Definitely about as un-closed as they come.

It will, just don't be afraid to recess those horrid mids a bit with an equalizer.

Bass is a tad light compared to the mids, but definitely deep and very good for cans of this price. They are also great for games and movies.
