hello,

can anybody recommend a great sounding pair of earbuds that are in the area of $80? i'm curious if the grado igi are worth the purchase. i've been using the grado sr60, but want something a little less bulky for use in the subway and stuff. i'm always impressed by the quality of grado headphones but won't limit my purchase to just that if i can be talked into a different brand.

i'd greatly appreciate any input!

chris

There is a lot in that price range, just surf through the forum and there is a lot of info here to help your decision. I personally like the head direct re0, but others prefer things like the klipsch s4, and others.

The iGi have gotten bad reviews, so I'd stay away. Go for the Head Direct RE0 or Klipsch S4.

He asked about earbuds like the igi, I assumed he meant iems, and nyjets is right if you are looking for earbuds, I have the pk3's and they are great, I could listen to my grado sr60's and put in the pk3's and not be disappointed.

I think you might enjoy the Thinksound rain or thunder. Both can be found under 80 are highly mid centric, which I guess would be something like a grado sound(though I've never heard a grado, don't quote me!). The RE0s and S4 also seem like strong options. I haven't heard any of these, so take my words with a grain of salt.

iGi are awful. If you want the Grado sound then look into the Head-Direct line of IEMs.

Hahaha, that's ironic. So are you saying they're similar sounding? I'll keep that in mind when I look for a full size pair eventually.
