i was looking at a simillar thread that was related to portable cans but for me i am in need of a headphone (not earbuds) for listening to music(rock , rap , indie) in my room.

why i need them? Because the apartment that i live in really sucks. No soundproofing at all so when ever i put some bass on my 5.1 sorround system my neibhor hears it and always complains which irritates the hell out of me. so i was wondering if u guys could help me find a decent set of cans for around 40$ USD. right now my setup is just audigy2 with kX drivers which is okay for me right now. I might get a chaintech AV 710 later but as of right now audigy 2 is what i will be using.

any help is appreciated.

thanks

How about some senn px100's. I hear they're not too bad. They're priced at 40usd at jr.com. Also consider koss ksc75/35 as well as sportapros or portapros, which are a little over your budget. You could even go for senn hd201 or hd202. I suggest also checking http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-budget/under-40/. Headrooms got a list of headphones under $40, which is what your looking for. Good luck in your find.

Man I'm going through the same crap as you with my F'n neighbor. I've been here for years with no problems and they move in 6 months ago and complained the first day. Friends can't believe how little volume will provoke a phone call even though I've had my sub turned off since the first week they moved in. #@$#!*#@ I'm getting pissed off just typing about it.

I've had to upgrade my headphones, buy better interconnects and am in the process of having a M3 amp built. I feel like I should send them the damn bill. Anyway If I was going low budget on headphones I would get Grado SR60's. No amp required and these things rock. 4 pairs on ebay for $55, a little over your budget but you wont be disappointed.

allright heres the three headphone choices

Grado Sr-60 (hows the bass on this one?)
HD 201 (does this provide a good seal)
px 100.
Portapro's (how are there?)

so the final question sis which set of cans from those three provide the best seal and overall music with bass?

thanks

Only the HD201 provide a seal. The rest are open headphones that leak a lot of sound.

But if you are just worried about your neighbours, why is sound leakage an issue. There is no way your neighbours will hear your music with headphones.

Haven't hear the 201, but the others have good slam and excitement. The Porrtapro is a warmer, and slightly bassier headphone than the PX-100's, but the PX-100's have a clearer sound to my ears. The Grado's are comparable to the PX-100's in overall impact, but sound a bit brighter.
