Hello!

I’m looking to get a good DAC and AMP for my new K712 Pro. Budget is around 300-400 euros.

Right now I’m using a Sound Blaster x Ae-5 and while it sounds perfectly fine, there is just too much hissing and noise coming from it. So I decided that I need an external combo.

I’m mostly a gamer that wants good positional audio and details if that matters. Is a Sabre DAC better than AK for this?

These are the combos I’ve been looking at:

1. Topping DX3 Pro
2. Topping D50 and A30 or JDS Atom.
3. Aune X1S 10th anniversary
4. Audio-GD NFB-11.38
5. Audio-GD NFB-11.28
Or any other recommendations.

Any help would be much appreciated as I’ve googled my ass of for several weeks without coming to a conclusion..

Did you disable the motherboard's on-board audio, in the BIOS, when you installed the SBX AE-5?

I do like my Audio-GD NFB-11.28 DAC/amp.
But I just bought the Topping DX7s and it allows me to use a balanced headphone :)

Yes, I’ve even tried unplugging the onboard sound completely. But the hissing just wont go away. Tried the onboard only and the same hiss is there. Never noticed it before, using the AE-5 for almost a year.

The power went out a couple of weeks ago and I think the problems started then. Either that or a windows update must have caused it.

Do you prefer the NFB 11.28 or DX7s soundwise? Or is there no difference between the two?

Because the Topping DX7s comes with balanced outputs, I think I like it better then the NFB-11.28.
Normally the DX7s cost $100 more then the NFB-11.28, but Massdrop currently offer the DX7s for a better price.
But Massdrop will not ship it out until July 19th.
