Hi there, it looks like i might've decided to get a custom iem afterall..
If i sell my um2, ($220ish) sr225 (hopefully close to $200 with all the acc) i'd add around $3-400 which i probably can squeeze out of my bank account
I'm leaning towards the ES2, because i'd like a more 'fun' listening when being outside

Question are, is this the right choice for me if i prefer the DT990 to SR225 because i think SR225 sounds off for music other than rock, especially jazz and i only find it superior for pearl jam and similar music?
And does it stick out much and as comfortable as the sensas? I've seen the sensas and they stick out the least out of the other custom iems i've seen, anyone got pics of ES2 in their ears?
I was highly considering the sensas too until i read digihead's review on the ES2 here and there

Is there a full review somewhere?

Oh, and i'm probably going to use it straight from my 5g ipod, except if the difference is that massive when used with a supermini.. simply because i don't like too many things in my pocket

EDIT: is the ES2's memory cable anywhere as bad as e5c's? i hated them and had the 'memory wire' broken twice, don't know why..

In case you haven't read it you can find my impressions here.

The ES2's are going to be more like the UM2 than anything else you mentioned. As a few have said they take all the qualities of the UM2 and bring them up to a whole new level. The do sit flat in my ears and I could easily lay on my side with them inserted if I wanted to. The sound great straight of an iPod but like most things around here really shine with an amp. I've heard them with the Hornet and PRII and they sounded great with both (especially with the Hornet or the AD8397 in the PRII). I don't know about the memory cable on the E5C's but the memory cable on the 5. pros drove me crazy and this is nothing like that, in fact I don't even notice it. I went with the regular hard option, clear cable, candy blue and no custom art and my price was $650 out the door.

Feel free to PM me if you have more detailed questions.

The ES2 should handle everything quite well, except for the very soundstage and treble-dependant stuff like large-scale orchestral music. For small-scale ensembles, the warmth and intimacy will be a plus, as will it be for jazz (I think, not having much jazz in my collection). The fit should be more snug than the UM2, depending on what tips you use. The profile is low enough that you can sleep with them without too much discomfort. As far as amped use goes - I would suggest the Hornet, either with the original cap or the M version for best synergy. I use the original Hornet, and the warmth, closeness, liquid midrange, and vivid dynamics of the combo are something to behold. Unamped use will be just fine, as long as your files are good enough (anything over 192 will be OK).

Can someone take a picture of them in your ear- from the front and side, pretty please?

Hmm, i'm kind of reconsidering the choice.. It turns out that they're just over US$800 here

although i can *just* afford it, US$150 difference is pretty significant for a poor student like me
But lets see, if the in-ear pictures shows that they're not that noticable, i might get them if i can get a bit of a lower price.. somehow
