if these two were your only choices, i would recommend the k81 because from what i read here, they are bassy phones. however, you can go el cheapo and give her the ksc 75. she would not be disapppointed.

I can not recommend the PX100 enough for 38$. It's dirt cheap.

Depending on how fussy she is about her hair:

Killer deal is the KSC-75. No hair problem.

KSC-75 drivers in a behind-the-head 'phone: Koss SportaPro, KSC-55

Cheapest is the Coby CV-130, $6 from Big Lots, but it has a headband and needs a simple no-cost mod. Good for little kid sisters.

I'd try the K81, because it's a closed back headphone and that's kind of advantage. A dj headphone always boosts the bass response, very good for hip hop and rap music.
I think the K81 is a good choice (if you don't want to be a good brother giving her the HD25

Will she be listening mostly at home, or out and about?

The PX100s are a very good value and a lot of fun (and light and comfortable) ... but they're open, so wouldn't isolate on a bus/train, walking down the street, etc. The K81DJ's would provide more isolation, maybe at the expense of comfort (they clamp against the ear hard for some people, which can be uncomfortable after a while ... really great-looking 'phones, if that's a factor) and hair issues.

There's a good-looking (and -sounding) AudioTechnica closed headphone in that class, as well.

i've just brought a pair of JBL reference 410 headphones, and they bury the PX100 (of which i have a pair) the PX200 (of which i have a pair) and even my beloved iGrado (and yes i have a pair See my igrado review).

the JBL's are comfortable, the sound is far fuller than anything the PX100's can conjure up and they're now dirt cheap.

i would (and i have) buy the JBL's over the PX100's any day, especially at the price.

Good luck

I would say the K81DJ--very nice bass for rap and they do very well with movies. They isolate and are pretty cheap. Only thing that might hold them back is that they're uncomfortable. I know I'd choose them over the PX100.
