After demoing (and liking) Etymotic ER6's, I ordered Alessandro MS'1 since I couldn't demo them locally. They just came yesterday and I like the way they sound, too. But, as I suspected, my wife can really hear them (at low volumes) when I listen in bed as she falls asleep. That's gonna be a problem...

I'm thinking that for late night listening and when I know I'm going to do serious listening during the day, as well as for the ocassional plane trip, that ER6s are the way to go. But I'm not crazy about being so isolated in "normal" circumstances. I'd like to be able to hear the phone ring, etc. during the day. I also don't like the idea of having to remove and "reinstall" these if I get up to do something, someone comes in the room, blah, blah, blah.

Sooooo, I have the feeling that neither the MS1s nor the ER6s will be right for all applications. Does that sound true? Is there a better choice than one day owning both of these? Should I just try to buy both used and save a few bucks over the $100 per pair new price? What do y'all think?

what are you talking about? he's worried his wife will hear the music he plays in bed, if you flip an ear pad, she'll be able to hear everything.

Try out the Sony V6's if you can...I really like them and they sound pretty good
