Hi. I'm pretty new here, so please excuse my mistakes. All right, I need some advice. I'm currently selling my beats solo2 wired because they are uncomfortable. (I've found all the beats I've tried to be uncomfortable) In looking for a new pair of headphones, I've come up with the following criteria: over ear (most on ear hurt my head), I can find them for under $100 (even if it's on eBay), good bass, relatively good looking, portable, with a mic and wireless isn't required.

In case it helps, here are some songs I currently listen to: Five hours, Runaway by Galantis, Till I Collapse and Purple Lamborghini. I mainly listen to chill, trap, dubstep, and rap, but I would like a pair of headphones that also sound good with other genres.

I'm currently looking at the Skullcandy Aviators, Sennheiser Urbanite XL, Omni by Jlab. Any suggestions, regarding these or adding better ones?

Edit: now thinking of Sennheiser Urbanite XL, Sennheiser 461 or Sony MDR-XB950s. (If they sound the same, I would choose the XLs for aesthetics.)

Also, I am under the impression that I can also improve the bass by buying an amp. Any suggestions for a portable amp under $50? I'm currently leaning toward the e6. Would an amp improve the overall sound quality of the three headphones mentioned?

Thanks in advance,

I've owned a few Skullcandy headphones in the past, the Crusher and Aviator and I found the bass to be muddy on every one. I currently own the Sennheiser Urbanite XL and its alright, but I think better phones can be had for the money. I've never heard the JLab Omni, but I have heard their Flex, Bombora, Epic ear buds and I currently own the Epic Bluetooth. I think you might not enjoy the midbass bloat and clipped highs on the JLab over ears with your style of music. If you want a good pair fitting your criteria under your budget look into the Sennheiser HD 461. Comfortable headphones with a better sound to me than the Urbanite XL's.

Now, if you can go a tad over $100, you could look into the Audio-Technica ATH-WS770iS. A friend of mine has a set and I think it's a damn good bang for your buck @ $129.00 and it has inline mic and volume controls for both Android and iOS devices.

The Sony MDR-XB950s are really good with bass, a mic, and they are really comfortable. You can find them on Amazon for $100 dollars, too. However, the wireless versions, which cost $180, feature NFC, a mic, and a bass-boosting feature which will faulter the sound quality a bit. I suggest the wired version. Hope this helps!

Also, an amp isn't needed to improve the bass for these, it's already quite tight and punchy.

If I could get the 461 or the urbanite XLs for $80, which will you recommend? Also, would an amp improve the sound quality of either of these?
Thanks for the helpful advice!

Either of those 2 would work for you. That price is super low for Urbanite XL's. They each have their strengths. Both are really comfortable for long wear time. But since you can get the XL's as low as the 461, I'd say go that route. There are better headphones for what I paid for mine (around $130 I think) but they are a great deal at $80. Good luck!
