Well, my old sound card broke, and now I need a new one, so I'd like some advice on this if anyone is kind enough to do so.

My primary headphones are Er-4P, and I never use speakers.

My primary focus is on music play, not gaming. I listen to a wide variety of genres, mostly classical, techno, rock, and jazz.

I'm running Windows Vista 64 with a quad core processor, and 4 gigs of ram, so I should be able to handle pretty much anything.

I don't have an amp.

The highest I can do is $600, but I'd like to keep it below that if at all possible.

Sounds like you have a sweet rig. The problem will be in finding sound cards that have good support in Vista--most drivers are still in beta. Good luck!

To tide you over you might consider this USB card... It works with Vista..

After you are done, you can always sell it and get most of your money back.
