Ive been using the senn 280 pro for about a year now have been wanting something better for music. I originally got the 280 pros for gaming / music but atm I havent been playing much fps games.Im looking for headphones around $100.

So what im getting at, should I stay with the 280 pros? or will there be a noticable upgrade for around $100 for listening to music.

I generally listen to Metal / Heavy metal / Alternative metal / rock.
ATM my sound card isnt that great if that makes any difference.

Based on your taste in music and price range, you should definitely consider the Alessandro MS-1s (or some other Grado can, like the SR60).

Your source is just a computer/laptop? Do you have an amp? If not, you should also look into getting a little amp to drive your cans... and then upgrade your source... and then get an external DAC... etc... sorry about your wallet

i dont have much experience, but if you have onboard sound, just upgrade to an x-fi soundcard and keep you hd-280s. the type of music you have fits with those set of cans already! (lots o bass)

I second the sound card upgrade. At your price range any headphone you get is most likely just going to sound 'different' (like the SR-60 would sound different than the 280pro), but not necessarily 'better'. A better sound card is going to make the most of your 280 and you'd be surprised how much a difference it can make.
