Hey, i recently bought a Sony Mz-s1 net md walkman but I haven't been really happy with it..it's great but it's huge as hell! So I was wondering if a 707 or 610 would be better. Thanks and please help asap, I'm goin to have to take the S1 back tommorow if I wanna get a refund

The MZ-N707 is a great unit, I have one. I haven't used the 610-- it lacks a microphone jack, but so does the MZ-S1. The 610 would have a radio, which would be a nice perk. I'd probably just get whichever you can get the best deal on...

Anyone have any comments on the 610?

Auvi? Meh....Get yourself something older, perhaps an R909 (if you don't want NetMD) or an N910 if you want NetMD.

I have no regrets selling the DR7 for an older 722.

but, i'm on a pana kick lately and would like to put in a good word for the mr220. the pana sounds nice, as einolu and mystyler can testify to. it's loud enough, as well...louder than my dr7/ds8 and just as loud as the e900 i tried out recently. i thought it sounded as good as the e900, too! the one thing the panas are missing, however, is better bass and treble control. the mr220 sounds good with no xbs and xbs-1 but lacks treble controls, which i do like to have.

so, i'd say to go for the dr7 for great sound definition & more bass/treble control or the pana for good sound & good volume (plus the killa touchpad!!!).

No auvi hate, still have the $800 haul in systems

.

I just like the 722 more than the DR7, and the R50 more than both.

I'm getting an MT831 too. I wonder where that will fit in.

Tbdoah,

You've turned into a professional MD person.

I suppose I can take a bit of credit for that...........

amyloo--

Question, are you looking to order online or even import a unit, or are you looking to just pick one up at a local retailer? (I ask because you asked about the 707 and the 610, and most everyone else in this thread has been quick to recommend a model that is either somewhat dated (regardless of how good it is it's not currently in production) or something that you'll have to order online imported or something. Importing a current model is not a bad idea, but if you're new to the format I probably wouldn't play games with trying to find an R50 or some other older model. Either the 610 or the 707 may suit you perfectly, depending on whether you want the mic jack or radio.

In any case, let us know what you decide

I had the S1 for a while. Great unit-- sold it to my sister for cheap to help get her into the MD format. It has to be the toughest unit out there just because of how it's built, but yeah it's fairly large compared to the 610
