Hi all, Newbie here.
I recently purchased a Neco Soundlab portable headphone amp from ebay.
Is anyone familiar with this amp? I've seen some good talk about this little unit on one of the threads.
Problem is that it doesn't make much improvement over my Fiio E5, or even the iPod touch for that matter (running with Sennheiser HD555). These phones definately have much more potential as when connected to my little Teac all in one unit, the Senns sound rich, warm and full. And thats running from DAB at about 128kbps.
The sound from the Neco amp is very thin, with no richness or warmth. I specified it with AD8066opamp as I read this goes low with the bass (which I like). But such is not the case with the Neco.
Was I just expecting too much? I thought a dedicated, albeit portable amp like the Neco would do a better job than my Teac, and a much much better job than the Fiio, or even the ipod itself. It does go VERY loud and remain very clear, but it is the richness and warmth similar to the stock headphone out on my little Teac that I was hoping for.
This is a link to the eBay page with full spec: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_3481wt_1107
Any thoughts guy/gals?
Thanks in advance.
